Bank of America Awards Grant to Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County
Funds will expand Goodwill’s workforce development programming
WILMINGTON, DE – Leading regional workforce development provider, Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County, has received a $100,000 grant from Bank of America. The grant will help to expand the number of people served through Goodwill’s programming focused on strengthening communities and improving economic mobility. Through programs such as the Goodwill Digital Career Accelerator® powered by Google.org, Goodwill is equipping people with the knowledge and expertise needed to succeed in the evolving 21st century job market.
“Goodwill provides job training programs and employment placement services to people from all walks of life – those with disabilities, those who lack education or job experience, and others facing challenges to finding employment. The economic and employment outlook that we face today underscores the dire necessity of this work,” said Colleen Morrone, President and CEO, Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County. “We appreciate Bank of America’s generous award and continued support of our non-profit mission to improve the quality of life for people facing barriers to self-sufficiency, through the Power of Work.”
The grant is part of Bank of America’s philanthropic giving efforts in local communities. Awardees were selected for their commitment to addressing basic needs and workforce development for individuals and families, during the coronavirus pandemic.
“The work that Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County is doing through workforce development initiatives to improve the quality of life for Delawareans with barriers to self-sufficiency is critical,” said Chip Rossi, President of Bank of America Delaware. “With this support, Goodwill will continue to improve economic mobility through its vital job placement and skills training programs.”
